Project short film personalized medicines in digital printing

Production of personalized medicines using digital printing

The company DiHeSys Digital Health Systems has further developed the 2D and 3D printing process to pharmaceutical maturity. The company has developed a printer with which drugs can be produced using digital printing. In this pilot project, the concrete application is to be implemented at the University of Tübingen using the example of improved treatment of a malignant brain tumor. As part of the project, a pharmaceutical-grade 2D printer will be installed at the University Hospital of Tübingen, which will enable individual dosing of active ingredients for the patient. In addition to the printer, DiHeSys also supplies the hospital with the required print cartridges with the printable active ingredient mixture. The printer is qualified on site and put into operation by the local pharmacist, who produces and releases the final recipe according to the doctor's prescription. Based on effect-dose relationships, a personalized drug tailored to the patient is prescribed and produced. This optimizes the effect of the drug and reduces unwanted side effects. The University Hospital of Tübingen is responsible for the selection of patients, administration to patients, monitoring and documentation of the safety, evaluation and success of the therapy.

In cooperation with the Form Health Location Baden-Württemberg 2020, a project short film worth seeing was created.
